Monday 11th September 2006

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back after the long summer break.  Many apologies for the delayed start to the term, unfortunately this was beyond our control but we hope you’ll agree the much improved kitchen area was worth the wait.

New children
We welcome James, Rebecca, Katie, Joseph and their families to Pre-school this term and look forward to getting to know them all.

Consent letters
Please find attached to this letter, consent letters for local visits and the use of images.  These letters are now part of the welcome pack that all new children receive.

Keyworkers
As you may be aware, each child is assigned a keyworker for their time at Pre-school.  Your child’s key worker is ……………………. .  If you have any queries or concerns please see your child’s keyworker.

Later this term we will be giving all parents the opportunity to meet their child’s key worker to chat about their progress.  Appointments will take place 10 minutes before the end of the session.  Your child’s key worker will arrange a suitable time with you.

Ofsted update

We are due an inspection visit from Ofsted this term.  The inspector will be looking to see that we have put in place the recommendations made at the last visit particularly regarding the security of the Pre-school.  For the safety of all children, please could you ensure you close the entrance gate behind you when you arrive and ensure the alarm is switched on.  Please alert a member of staff if you find the alarm is not working.  During session times, the door will be locked and a door bell in place to gain access.

The staff and committee have been working hard to ensure everything is ready for the inspection and we look forward to positive inspection report.

Fees

Fees for this term remain at £1.65 per hour for non funded children.  The lunch fee of £3.50 now applies to all children staying for lunch.  This unfortunate rise for non funded children is necessary to comply with the funding Code of Practise.

For parents of children in receipt of funding, please remember you are entitled to five sessions per week at no cost.  We will be asking you to sign a form later in the term to confirm how many sessions your child attends in order for us to claim the funding from Devon County Council.

If you have any queries about anything in this letter, please do not hesitate to talk to Kate, or Laura.

Yours sincerely

Laura Kies
