                                  STOKE GABRIEL PRESCHOOL

                                               MEETING

                                               18/02/03

PRESENT : Claire T., Amanda, Kyrie, Rebecca. Jo, Claire M. Sarah B.

APOLOGIES: Janet, Sue, Sarah, Claire G. Katie Harper.

MATTERS ARISING: None.

CHAIRS REPORT:  see attached. Claire M. to produce advertising for more children to put in Dr’s waiting rooms etc. possibility of our own web site. Claire to put an article in the Parish  News.

TREASURERS REPORT: Financially we are much more stable at the moment. We need to have a contingency fund and this now stands at around £2500.00 which is what it should be. We are still doing ok even though we lost a lot of children to school. However we cannot afford to become complacent as July and Christmas we lose a considerable number of children when they move on and we need to make sure we are in a strong situation when this happens.

SUPERVISORS REPORT: see attached. Please check for Red Nose Day details.

FUNDRAISING:  It has been a while since we last had a fundraiser so we need to do one in the next half term. Sarah has agreed to do a raffle on a bi-monthly basis, maybe putting it in the village shop. Amanda has agreed to revive the bonus ball.

Claire M. and Sarah B. are going to do a boot sale, all items for this very welcome. Sarah B. suggested a car treasure hunt which we thought we might be able to do with F.O.S.S.

Jo is organising a children’s treasure hunt to be done over the Easter holiday.

Any suggestions for a quiz very welcome.

COMMITTEE: Sarah Bromige was voted on to the committee, many thanks Sarah for stepping in.

PARENTAL SUPPORT FOR THE PRE-SCHOOL: Claire read a letter that she had written which is attached for all the parents to read, please read it and pass on your comments.

A.G.M.:  The date was set for March 25th at the V&A starting at 7.45. All this years’ committee have to step down and next years committee needs to be voted on. Without a committee there will be no pre-school as simple as that. The job of running the pre-school needs to be shared so please think about putting your name on the list for election. Please check what the job requires first. The list will be put up on the notice board in the schoolroom. At this meeting both fees and wages increases will be discussed.

A.O.B

-         Parking when picking your child up at 1 pm.  Please don’t park in the Church House car park. Mel is happy for us to use the front of the V&A.

-         School admissions. If you have a younger child and they are not on the waiting list for school and you want them to have a place, please make sure you put them on as soon as possible. A place at pre-school does not guarantee a place at the school but they have asked us to make sure that parents are aware that the decisions over who gets a place at the school is not theirs.

-         The money that we were given from the raffle at the pantomime has been given to the fund to put the slide in the orchard. Claire suggested that we make this up to £100 which was voted on and agreed.

-         Janet will be away 9th 10th and 11th April. Sarah will be running pre-school on

these days.

We are due our major OFSTED this year. There are some things that need to be sorted out before then but we now have an operational plan, which is available for all parents to read (in Janet’s cupboard). We are updating our prospectus, welcome pack and procedures and policies.

Some parents who want to come to the meetings find it hard to get childcare so with this in mind it has been agreed that from time to time meetings will be held at people’s houses. This was voted on and agreed.

Katie is applying for grants to put matting in the orchard and a new kitchen. More on this next meeting.

Highlighting the need to clear the orchard, please speak to Janet to arrange a working party. Claire to talk to Parish Council.

Night out to Hot Willies, Kylie to organise.

Possibility of a trip out for the children, will speak to Janet.
