Staff Management

The staff team meets daily for 10/15 minutes to discuss planning and day to day issues as well as meeting monthly for a couple of hours to address bigger issues and discus the general progress of all children.

The chair and supervisor meet termly to discuss any issues arising in the day to day life of the pre-school as well as having regular informal meetings throughout the term as keep the Chair aware of what is going on within the setting. The Chair and staff team will meet to discuss issues such as Policies and Procedures changes as well as Ofsted requirements.

When making decisions about the running of the pre-school, such as revising policies or session times, the staff will share their views during a consultation period and their experiences and training is recognised as valuable when ensuring the needs of the children are met.

Staff appraisal and professional development meetings take place once a year. The members of staff meet individually with the Supervisor and the Chair. The Supervisor meets with the Chair and another committee member. The purpose of these meetings is to celebrate achievements and identify targets for continued professional development. Courses or in-house training is then arranged to help the staff meet their targets.

All staff are CRB checked as part of the recruitment process, even if they have been checked before. Staff may be allowed to work at the discretion of the committee while awaiting CRB checks to be completed but will not at any time be left on their own with a child or be permitted to accompany children to the toilets.
