Accident Procedure

  • Any accident that occur at pre-school must be entered in the accident book, stating the child's name, time, nature of accident, type of injury, action taken and must be witnessed by a member of staff.
  • This entry should then be shown to the child's parent/carer at the end of the session for his/her signature.
  • Should the injury require hospital treatment, the parent/carer or the emergency contact given by the parent should be contacted.
  • If an ambulance is called, a member of staff should attend the child until the parent/carer arrives.

The First Aid Box is kept in the cupboard above the filing cabinet.

The Accident Book is kept on top of the filling cabinet.

Children's Contact Details are kept in the filling cabinet. A condensed copy is filed at the back of the register.
