Admissions, Booking and Charging Policy

Aim

This policy aims to ensure all children applying for, and attending Stoke Gabriel Pre-School, are treated fairly with regards to securing a place and charges for that place.

Available Sessions

Stoke Gabriel Pre-School is registered to provide 17 places at the following sessions:

Admissions

  • Stoke Gabriel Pre-School accepts children living in Stoke Gabriel and the surrounding areas from the age of 2 ½.
  • Parents will be informed of the sessions that are available during the half term before the child is due to start.
  • Children already attending Stoke Gabriel Pre-School will be asked to confirm the sessions they require in writing each half term before places are made available to new children.
  • Once a child has a place at an allocated session, that place remains theirs until they leave, or until the parents decide to change the session.
  • Parents are asked termly which sessions they require for the next term.
  • Sessions already attended are secured automatically for the next term.
  • Places will be offered at the discretion of the supervisor and chair, taking into account the needs of each individual children, taking into consideration age, siblings, distance and any other relevant circumstances.
  • The decision of the committee and supervisor on the allocation of places is final.

Session Charges

Sessions are charged at £6.25 each and parents are invoiced half termly.

Free places

Children eligible for a free place (see table below) are entitled to up to 5 sessions a week at no cost, providing that parents have supplied the Pre-School with a Children's information form and Date of Birth evidence, to allow us to claim funding from Devon County Council.

Children born on or between: Will become eligible for a free place from:
1st April and 31st August 1st September following their third birthday
1st September and 31st December 1st January following their third birthday
1st January and 31st March 1st April following their third birthday

Additional Services

Stoke Gabriel Pre-School is registered to provide 17 places for the following lunchtimes:

Friday 11.30am - 12.30pm

In the event that more than 17 children wish to secure a lunchtime place, places will be offered at the discretion of the supervisor and chair, taking into account the need of each child, and factors such as age, siblings, distance and other relevant circumstances.

Lunchtime Charges

Lunchtime are charged at £3.25 for all children in accordance with the "Code of Practice on the Provision of Free Nursery Education Places for Three and Four Years Old".

Additional Charges

  • Additional sessions are only available to children registered with Stoke Gabriel Pre-School.
  • Additional sessions will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
  • If a non funded child wishes to attend an extra session on a one off basis, they will be accommodated if places allow and charged at the normal rate.
  • If a child claiming up to 4 free sessions wishes to attend an extra session on a one off basis, they will be accommodated if places allow and no charge will be made in accordance with the "Code of Practice on the Provision of Free Nursery Education Places for Three and Four Years Old".
  • If a child claiming 5 free sessions wishes to attend an additional weekly session, a charge will be made of £6.25.

Cancelling Sessions and Lunchtime

  • Sessions and Lunchtimes must be cancelled in writing with a 6 weeks' notice
  • Cancelled sessions will be offered to other children and therefore, once cancelled, the place cannot be guaranteed if circumstances change; i.e. a holiday is cancelled.
  • Sessions cancelled with less than 6 weeks' notice will not be eligible for a refund.

Long Term Absence

In the case of prolonged unexpected absence, e.g. serious illness, fees will be refunded at the discretion of the Pre-School Committee.
