Emergency Procedure
Meeting Point: Front entrance to the church
- In the case of a fire or another emergency, the fire marshal (Suzanne) will
call for an evacuation of the building by blowing the whistle and calling
"fire".
- Suzanne will collect the register containing details of the children and
adults attending the session as well as all the parent contacts, and direct the
children to line up at the main front door and start moving the children out of
the room and toward the meeting point.
- Carine will help gather the children, lead them towards the exit and guide
them to the meeting point.
- If possible, the assistant (Caroline/Sue) will check the toilets then go to
the front door making sure no one has been left in the building.
- All visitors will exit the building immediately and go to the meeting
point.
- Suzanne will then call the register and count the children and adults.
- Carine will call the emergency services.
- In the event of the main door not being in use, the exit is through the
house next door, via the toilets. The key for that exit is hanging next to the
door on the right.
Contacting parents/carers
If, following the emergency services inspection, the building is safe to
re-enter, then parents/carers will be informed of the evacuation when collecting
their child. If however, the building is not safe to re-enter, then parents/carers
will be informed immediately and asked to collect their children as soon as
possible.
