During the week of the 4th March we held a Reading Week. This was not only to coincide with celebrating World Book Day (7th March 2019) but also to further develop childrens interests in books. We transformed the Pre-school into a book themed room creating activities to go alongside some of our favourite books. We had water play (Tiddler – the fish who got lost under the sea), dressing up (Emperor’s New Clothes), A balancing activity using a broomstick (Room on the Broom), a counting activity using ‘underpants’ (Aliens love Underpants) to name a few. In addition we had a ‘Once Upon a Time’ storytelling area. We invited parents, grandparents and people from the Community in to Pre-School to read their favourite story with the children. Lucy from YogaKidz came in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings to undertake some yoga with the children. She used reading books to create stretches and yoga style exercises to represent the characters in the books.
All in all we had a very exciting and busy week. The children had an amazing experience and enjoyed listening to other peoples favourite stories.
We would like to thank everyone who came into Pre-School to read with the children.
